"He served in the War of 1812. David married Deliliah Williams on May 2, 1824. David drowned during the night of Jan. 29, 1835, of a fall from his horse into Back Creek. His widow Deliliah had died several months earlier on Nove. 22, 1835, and the children were cared for by friends and relatives. They lived at Back Creek Valley, which is present-day Gore."
