ARCHIBALD W. PINE, the Democratic candidate for county clerk, has been a resident of Walton the past ten years and is engaged in the wholesale and retail feed business. Mr. Pine is the son of the late GEORGE W. PINE and MRS. POLLY PINE and his early life was spent at East Branch where he was born. Mr. Pine is a member of Walton Lodge No. 559, F. & A. M. of Delaware Chapter, R. A. M., Norwich Commandery and Kalurah Temple, Mystic Shrine of Binghamton. He is a member of Walton Lodge No. 824, I. O. O. F. And was secretary of the lodge for two years. He also belongs to Oneonta Lodge No. 1312, B. P. O. E. He was for two years secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Walton. Mr. Pine is a member of the official board of Methodist Church of Walton. Mr Pine married MISS EMMA SMITH of Livingston Manor. They have one son, ROBERT. Mr. Pine is a young man 29 years of age and if elected will bring to the office of county clerk energy and business ability.

Funeral of Archibald W. Pine, 53, will be held in Lyon Bros. funeral chapel today, Friday, at 2 p.m. Rev. Henry G. Lincoln pastor of the First Methodist Church of which Mr. Pine was a member will officiate and burial will be made in Walton Cemetery. Mr. Pine who has suffered from heart trouble for the past two months was found dead in bed Tuesday morning. His death was attributed to coronary thrombosis. Mr. Pine was born at East Branch, Nov. 25, 1894, son of George W. and Pollie Hunt Pine. In 1909 the family moved to Walton where Mr. Pine resided until 1927 when he moved to Ilion. He returned to Walton in 1935 and has made his home here since. On Sept. 25, 1917 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma B. Smith who survives him. He also leaves two sons Robert S. Pine who received his diploma this week from Albany Law School, and Joseph W. Pine student at Brown University in Providence, R.I., one brother Frederick M. Pine Walton, and a sister Miss Floy L. Pine, Monrovia, Calif.
Arch Pine had a fine personality. A resourceful conversationalist, he was perfectly at home in any group and made friends easily. It was only natural that his life was spent in selling. During the war when there was little work for salesmen he worked for the Scintilla Division ( in Sidney, NY) as expediter and was considered one of the best. When scarce materials were needed Arch Pine could usually be depended on to to locate them and to make a deal for their immediate purchase. After the war, Mr. Pine went into business for himself as a manufacturer's agent. He was in a sense a war casualty as are so many men of the home front who disregarded their age in hurling themselves unreservedly into the duties of their particular role in the war effort. Arch Pine would be in New York of an evening talking on the telephone to his home office at Scintilla and a few hours later would be landing in Detroit to further the interests of his firm in the battle fought by all industries for raw materials. In those days he worked for his country beyond his strength. He was a past exalted ruler of Ilion Benevolent Order of the Elks.
