William Hook served in the Revolutionary War as an orderly in Capt. John Neil's Virginia Company. The military unit was responsible for guarding prisoners of was in the Hessian Barracks in western Frederick County. This is how William Hook and Mary McKee met. After marrying, William and Mary settled in Hampshire County, where they owned two estates.
